MLA & 2011 Deputy Minister/Executive Compensation


Today Justice Major finally tabled the MLA Compensation Review. There was much ado about the increase in the salary of the Premier and MLA's. Redford even went as far as to say she would not be taking the suggested increase. This is ridiculous as we need the Government to not decide their own wages, and let an independent body control it.
Her claims were that the wage increase was too much and NOT what Albertans want. Well I have to say Albertans want an open transparent compensation set out by an independent body. If the panel decided the outcome was higher, so be it. If she really wants to look the 180 people made up of deputy ministers and executive make a considerable amount more than the proposed increase.
